While lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic continues and travel is off limits, Chase is proactively trying to maintain the value of their credit cards by adding new temporary bonuses and offers. For example, adding bonus points for food delivery services on Chase’s personal Ultimate Rewards credit cards, and rolling out a temporary bonus category for groceries as well as allowing card holders to earn 3 to 5 reward points/miles for $1 spent at U.S. supermarkets. This article outlines all limited-time Chase bonuses and offers that have started this month.
New Chase Bonuses for Every New Account
Chase is offering eligible new cardholders extensions on earning their welcome bonuses. All new Chase credit card accounts approved from the beginning of the year through March 31, 2020 receive an additional three months — six months total — to earn the welcome bonus. The spending requirements vary from $500 to $4,000, depending on your card.
The welcome bonuses come in the form of Chase Ultimate Rewards points that can be redeemed as a statement credit for: grocery purchases, gift cards, food delivery or transfer your points if you have more than one Chase credit card. You will see the biggest value per cent — 25% or 50% more value — when you use your rewards to book your next trip through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.
New Chase Bonuses for Sapphire Reserve®
- Select Chase Sapphire Reserve card members will receive an $100 annual fee credit to offset the card’s $550 annual fee. All Sapphire Reserve cardholders with account renewal dates between April 1 and July 1, 2020 are eligible for the $100 annual fee credit. There is no activation needed to receive the automatic extension.

While we can’t get much value from exclusive to Chase credit cardholders discounts at travel merchants or make use of preferred seating for concerts and sporting events, the temporary grocery bonus category and streaming perks might help offset annual fees where applicable.
