The Citi Premier’s 3 points per $1 spent on grocery and at restaurants  went live earlier this week instead of the scheduled August 23rd launch. Citi also added a new enhancement for Prestige cardmembers who will now earn 5 points per $1 spent on online purchases through the end of August, with a maximum of 7,500 points.

Citi had announced last month that it will add 3 bonus points categories to the Premier card for purchases made at supermarkets and restaurants, including takeout. The bonus categories were initially scheduled to launch on August 23rd 2020. Citi has expedited these category additions. The Citi Premier signup pages are still showing the August 23rd start date, but according to information provided to TFM by Citi’s PR Team, Citi Premier cardholders will get a notification of this in the coming days.

Citi Prestige: Earn 5x Points For Online Purchases

The Citi Prestige
The Citi Prestige

Citi Prestige has a $495 annual fee and is largely travel-centric. The new enhancement will enable Citi Prestige cardholders to earn 5 points per $1 spent on online purchases. This is a limited-time offer and is valid through August 31 for a max of 7,500 points. Qualified online purchases include purchases made on retailer website orders, online grocery orders, and online drugstore orders.

The 5x offer is valid for all Prestige cardholders who had open accounts as of 22 May 2020. The new bonus comes on top of the last month’s announced offer, that purchases made with a Citi Prestige Card at Supermarkets and Restaurants (including takeout) will also count toward Prestige card $250 Travel Credit benefit through 31 December 2020.
