The Hilton Hhonors $50 credit deal
The Hilton Hhonors $50 credit deal

If you are a Hilton Hhonors member, look out for this email in your inbox. Hilton is offering a $50 credit towards hotel charges, excluding the room rate and taxes etc… So that means you will be able to use the $50 credit for room service, breakfast or restaurant charges, spa treatment or resort activities etc… You have to book through the link in your email, which will take you to a special landing page for this deal.

I clicked through the link to check out some of the properties, I was pleased to see some properties I have stayed at are included in the offer. For example the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA, where parking costs $42 per day, so a $50 credit would provide free parking plus change!! That is if the credit is valid for parking (the specifics of it are determined by each property), but failing that, even as a gold member I was only given a free continental breakfast and had to upgrade at $10 per person to the full breakfast, so a free breakfast and free room service would be nice.

It seems this credit is for paid stays only. Although it didn’t explicitly say that in the terms and conditions, when I tried to toggle to pay with points on the search results page, the page started loading and then froze. It did this several times and I ultimately couldn’t use points to book. On the bright side though, the credit is unlimited, so if you stay 10 days, that is potentially $500 you can “earn” from this. If you do get this credit on a booking, don’t forget to use it during your stay, because if is void after check out and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Uber Credit Card Ditches 4% on Dining in Major Shake Up

The Uber Visa card from Barclays used to be the best cash back card for restaurant purchases, earning 4% back per dollar spent. It famously beat the Capital One Savor, which was supposed to be the best cash back card for foodies, but only earnt 3% cash back at restaurants. Competition was so fierce that Capital One felt they needed to introduce another version of the Savor that did earn 4% at restaurants, but it still didn’t beat Uber since it had an annual fee, where as the Uber card doesn’t. Well that time has come to an end….
