Discover just added Home Depot as an additional option to earn 5% in the Q2 2020 rotating categories. Purchases at Home Depot will qualify for the 5% cashback only for the month of June. In order to take advantage of this Discover offer you must enroll before making these purchases and the 5% back is only valid on the first $1,500 in purchases each quarter (up to $75 per quarter), and then 1%.

Discover is a solid tier 2 credit card. It has rotating bonus cashback categories, similar to Chase Freedom. Previously, the available categories were Gas Stations, Uber, Lyft and Wholesale Clubs.

Current and Upcoming Discover Bonus Categories

  • April-June: Gas stations, Uber, Lyft, wholesale clubs (Costco has an exclusive deal with Visa, so the Discover card can’t be used onsite, although it is accepted at Costco.com), and as of June 1, The Home Depot (enroll now)
  • July-September: Restaurants and PayPal (enroll now)
  • October-December: Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Target.com (enroll starting Aug. 1)

Another Discover Limited-Time Offer

Discover is offering some cardholders (via email) a $5 statement credit when you spend $50 or more at Walmart.com by June 30th, 2020. If you’ve been targeted for this offer, you must activate the offer before purchasing. The $5 statement credit will be applied within 10 weeks of the promotion end date.

Discover is one of the two most notable no annual fee credit cards that have quarterly rotating cashback categories.  If Check out this side-by-side comparison of the two:
