American Express recently announced on an earnings call that they would be refreshing 40 cards in 2024, and we didn’t have to wait long for that process to start. Today Amex just announced a refresh of three personal and three business Delta Airlines co-branded credit cards. In this article I will go through the changes which include new credits added, new higher bonuses and unfortunately new annual fees. Let’s start with the personal cards.
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
Total new credit Value: $560
Breakdown
$120 rideshare credit ($10 per month),
$240 resy credit so that is $20 back per month when you spend at restaurants you book through Resy.
$200 Delta stays credit, you get up to $200 back per year when you book hotels through delta.com/stays.
The companion certificate is being expanded with new routes
New MQD headstart (2500 MQDs) + MQD boost
New annual fee: $650 (previously $550)
New welcome bonus: 100,000 Delta Skymiles for spending $6000 in 6 months.

Conclusion
So I am sure some people will find this useful and some will not. This is however, what I expected from these refreshes, after Amex executives emphasized their desire for more “subscription type recurring revenue” on their earnings call recently. Basically higher annual fees with more “coupon book style” credits. But on the other hand the increased bonuses are very attractive and many people will get use out of the credits to offset the new annual fees. So with this one, I would say do the math and figure it out according to your own unique situation and spending habits.
